Mayor wakes up, as signs of school violence spread
City to hire a retired Newark lieutenant

TRENTON - During a surprise appearance at a recent city council meeting, Mayor Douglas Palmer announced that his administrations lethargic approach to education is over. The city will no longer coddle those students who are more interested in being disruptive, than in learning, said Palmer. After fifteen years of decline, I promise my administration will take action. I am involved now!
Palmer also announced that he would be hiring retired Lieutenant Marquis Santicelli of Newark as a special consultant. Santicelli will evaluate and guide the city in creating a strategy to retake the citys schools.
Lieutenant Santicelli will bring with him a special knowledge of urban schools and the problems that children face everyday in the classrooms, said Palmer. His entire career has focused on identifying and correcting problems in the Newark school system, and his presence will be an asset to the city.

Feeling hapless, Mayor rallies outside help. Lots!
The time of true accountability may be at hand.

The man in charge of policing in Trenton is having a tough time dealing with crime lately. Murders and shootings are now happening in bunches; and no longer are the criminals waiting until darkness to engage in gunplay.
The man in charge of schooling in Trenton is having a tough time dealing with education lately. Violence is running rampant in the citys schools and test scores are plummeting. Trenton now has the most dangerous schools in New Jersey.
Unfortunately the man in charge of the Police Department and School Board is Mayor Palmer.
With an election less than a year away, Palmer is calling in help. However, the results being striven for may be more political than functional.     More Coverage » [page 3]

Weary of City's growing violence, Council members vow change

TRENTON - City Council recently announced that they are tired of constantly reading about violent crime in the newspapers.
Everyday we open the papers and see reports of violence on our streets and, like everybody else, we are sickened by what we read, said Councilwoman Cordelia Staton. But as of tonight it stops. We must take action.
Following Statons comments council members unanimously approved a resolution, in which they vowed to stop reading the citys newspapers.
This may not put an end to crime, but it is yet another definitive step for ignoring it, said West Ward Councilwoman Annette H. Lartigue. This demonstrates that the members of council are committed to the mayors plan for crime in Trenton.

    Mr. Spacely: Don't ask - Don't tell

Mr. Spacely, the bi-polar boss of George Jetson, has become a topic of hot conversation around the police station since his name showed up on an on-line discussion forum.
But Spacely's name has jumped from fiction right into the middle of crony-central. Last month a Lieutenant asked another Lieutenant if he was Mr. Spacely. As hard as it may be to believe, a restraining order was issued barring the inquisitive Lieutenant from contact with the "victim" Lieutenant, and now everybody wants one.

Latin Kings are taking a page from Palmer's book

Trenton These days it seems that whats good for the goose is good for the gander. This past week the K9News received an unsigned press release, allegedly issued by Trentons Latin King gang.
